MIXED MEDIA COLLAGE & PRINTMAKING CLASS SEATTLE

Explore your creative side in this Seattle mixed media collage class with the “Layers” theme. Make some art for yourself or for a gift. Gelliplates are a simple way to create single monoprints, by working with patterns and deli paper we can create ethereal, dreamy layers with collage. Students can work abstractly or with a subject in mind. Learn basic Gelliplate printing techniques to create patterns on deli paper. Learn more about Gelli plates here. You can even purchase your own if you like. No pressure – students are welcome to make their own prints, or use some I will be providing!
“Mixed Media Collage Gelli Plate Printing Workshop” is a great Seattle class for beginners, and even non-artists, but also a wonderful class for artists of all experience levels to unlock their creativity.
Most tools and art supplies provided by the instructor (or feel free to bring your own brushes, 8″ x 8″ wood or canvas panel and other supplies or collage materials. Bring your own Gelli plate and brayer if you have one! )
Tools & Supplies provided by the instructor for sharing: paint brushes, acrylic paints (heavy body, fluid and craft acrylics), white gesso, acrylic soft gel, Gelli Plate printing presses and brayers, tiny spray bottles, waxed deli paper, xeroxed compass roses and architectural rosettes, decorative patterned collage papers, Pitt/Micron Pens, rubber stamp alphabets, pattern stamps and stencils, catalyst tools/q-tips, 3 illustration board for each student.
Students should bring – some paper towels, water container, baby wipes and an apron or painting shirt to wear. You are also welcome to bring a snack or covered beverage. Or your own wood or canvas 8″ x 8″ panel.
In this Seattle mixed media techniques class you’ll learn:
-basic acrylic paint monoprinting with Gelliplates and deli paper
-basic paper collage with acrylic soft gel
– painting/rubber stamping on tissue paper
-acrylic paint and gesso techniques
Students will create 3 collages by the end of class on 4-ply illustration board.
